Safety First – Digging

Owning Tucson Real Estate sometimes requires digging.  Whether planting a new tree, installing a new irrigation system, or erecting a new fence; there are always reasons to dig.  One important step to take before you begin to dig is to make sure there is nothing below that you can damage or that can cause damage to your property if you bump up on it while digging.  That step can now be accomplished with a simple phone call to 811.

Here is what Southwest Gas has to say about calling 811 in their May 2010 issue of “Safety Rules!”

Smart digging means calling 811 first!  Whether you are a homeowner or a professional excavator, one call to 811 gets underground utility lines marked for FREE.

By calling 811, you reduce the risk of unintentionally hitting underground utility lines while working on digging projects.  Every digging job requires a call – even small projects like planting trees or shrubs.

Don’t make the mistake of not calling before you dig.  This oversight can be lie-threatening or costly.  If you hit an underground utility line while digging, you can harm yourself or those around you, disrupt service to an entire neighborhood and potentially be responsible for fines and repair costs.

So remember, before you dig up your Tucson Real Estate, call 811.
